Maintaining the Vihara Inside a Muslim Society
Nowadays, we have seen the emergence of Buddhist activities in many urban and rural areas of Indonesia where Islam has a deep rooted in this country. One piece of evidence is the establishment of monasteries in many places, although the society of the surrounding area is predominantly Muslim.
Introduction:
For the last twenty years, the contestation among religious followers in Indonesia has actually been increased and as a result, many communal conflicts exist in some areas such as Ambon, Poso, Sampit, and other cities. Some scholars and government officers have similar views and put emphasized on the importance of religious dialogue, or some others say interfaith dialogue, for citizens to prevent further communal conflicts.

Orang China tempo dulu tidak mengenal segregasi kehidupan duniawi yang wadak dengan spiritualitas yang abstrak. Keduanya menyatu dalam permodelan keseharian. Alam dunia yang dipahami secara imanen seperti ini tidak aneh apabila melahirkan pemikir bijak besar seperti Konfusius (479-381 SM), Mencius (371-289 SM), Lao Tsu (sezaman dengan Konfusius), dan para pionir kebijaksanaan lainnya.
